What struck him the most when he first arrived there, was that argentine’s spanish was nothing like the spanish he was taught in high school; full of colloquial expressions, gestures and insults.<br>James not only got fascinated by this new culture, but he also realized that no american will ever be near to understanding the wide variety of expression that could be found when talking to an argentine.<br>So he created the most complete guide to understand the complexity and curiosities of argentine culture.<br>He reached us to convert this guide into an interactive app, and bring the argentine personality not only to its content, but also to its design.[[es]]James es un norteamericano que lleva buena parte de su vida viviendo en Argentina. Lo que más le llamó la atención al llegar, fue que el español de los argentinos no tenia similitud alguna con aquel que había aprendido en su país; un idioma lleno de expresiones coloquiales, gestos e insultos.<br>James no solo quedó fascinado por esta nueva cultura, sino que también cayó en la cuenta de que ningún norteamericano estaría ni cerca de entender la amplia variedad de expresiones que podían ser encontradas al hablar con un argentino.<br>Entonces creó la guía más completa para entender las complejidades y curiosidades de la cultura argentina.<br>Nos contactó para convertir esta guía en una app interactiva que plasmara esta cultura no solo en su contenido sino también en su diseño.
[[en]]The “Fileteado” is a form of decorative art that has its origins in the 20th century. Italian immigrants used to paint them in Buenos Aires wagons and it quickly spread to trucks, buses, window shops and so on. Now it is as close to Argentina’s culture as “mate” or soccer. We wanted to bring back this tradition and reinvent it to fit the fresh and modern look the client was looking for in his guide. We took the ornamental shapes and color and gave them a clean and bright feel.[[es]]El "fileteado" es un estilo de arte decorativo originado en el siglo 20. Inmigrantes italianos en Buenos Aires solían pintar estos fileteados en carretas y rápidamente el estilo se esparció al transporte colectivo, ventanales de tiendas y más. Hoy en día pertenece a la cultura del país casi tanto como el mate o el fútbol. Decidimos apoyarnos en esta tradición y reinventarla para que se adecúe al estilo fresco y moderno que el cliente quería transmitir en su guía. Utilizamos formas ornamentales y una paleta vibrante para dar a esta identidad una imagen viva y limpia.
[[en]]The guide puts emphasis on the argentines' candid and expressive forms. So it was nothing but natural to make the app personality and tone of voice follow this manners.[[es]]La guía hace énfasis en las formas de expresión directas y llamativas de los argentinos, por lo que parecía natural que la aplicación siguiera la misma línea en su personalidad y tono de voz.
[[en]]The formal aspects as well as the color palette incorporate traditional elements found in “fileteado porteño”.We created a unique graphic, that even though it refers to this classic technique, it fits a more modern medium in which it will be reproduced.[[es]]Los aspectos formales y la paleta de colores incorporan elementos tradicionales encontrados en el "fileteado porteño". Creamos una gráfica única, que si bien se desprende de esta técnica clásica, se adecúa de manera moderna al medio en el cual se va a reproducir.
